HIKING INDIAN TRAIL November 2009 - 54 photos
Did another hike in November of 2009. This time Indian Trail, 1,000 feet above the road through Ogden Canyon. Bill Joy and Judy Watson joined me on this one. The trail runs through pine forests high up on the south side of Ogden Canyon. It is mostly in the shade because of the mountains above and tall trees. The trail is well used and in pretty good condition, except for a few places that get washed out occasionally. There are some ledges and places where the trail crosses very steep terrain, but it's not considered a very hard trail to hike. Except this particular time it was harder for me, as I did a 30 mile bike ride the day before. I had to go slow and rest often, but being in my 70's, I did good enough. It's about 5 miles from start to finish.

It was a little cool when we started out, but soon warmed up and became a fair day and we enjoyed this hike. There wasn't much in the way of fall colors this late in the year, most of the leaves were on the ground. According to my GPS tracker, we walked 5.02 miles and climbed 1,345 feet.

We left a car at each end, starting in Ogden Canyon where the old Lime Kilns are, and climbed up Cold Water Canyon, then took the trail along the south side of Ogden Canyon coming back down at the 22nd Street Trailhead. It was a very nice day for November.

I used a Canon EOS 40D, 10.1 Megapixel SLR Camera with a Canon EFs 17-85mm wide angle to 5x zoom and a Canon EF 75-300mm telephoto zoom lens for close-up photos. Some of these photos were taken by Bill Joy with his Olympus E620 SLR and additional lenses and some were taken by Judy Watson with her Canon Powershot SX 110, 9 megapixel and 10x zoom.
Original photos were taken at aprox 3888 x 2600. These photos are set to 750 x 500 for faster loading. You are welcome to look at or download any of the photos. If you use them on any other webpage, please give credit and refer back to me.
