On the 2nd day of October 2004, my neighbor Don, my grand daughter Nicole and I, hiked up to Lake Mary and Lake Martha, this hike starts at Brighton Ski Resort located at the end of the road in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is a fairly short hike, only 1 mile to Lake Mary and maybe a quarter mile on to Lake Martha. The first part of the hike up the ski runs is quite steep but not so bad after you move into the canyon below the lakes. There is short trail over to Dog Lake about 3/4 the way up and Lake Catherine which is located over a ridge above Lake Martha, but we didn't hike to those lakes on this day. The fall colors in the foliage this year was superb.
