Snowshoeing Wheeler Creek Middle Fork
January 2013 - 40 photos

We went snow showing again. Cheryl, Marlene and I went up to the Snowbasin area Saturday. We did the downhill hike from Green Pond trailhead to Ogden Canyon through Wheeler Creek Middle Fork, and Ice Box Canyon. I figured it would take about 4 hours, and it did. Going downhill is much easier and faster. We saw many others on the trail and quite a few were going all the way up to Snowbasin then back down. Oh to be young again. About half way down I talked the girls into going up the Art Nord to Maples trail to find the Yurt. The yurt is a tent with table and chairs. I thought it would be a nice place to have lunch, but it was farther up from the trail junction than I figured, so we gave up and turned around, going on down through Ice Box Canyon to the car.

Before going up to Snowbasin we left my car at the bottom of Wheeler Creek Canyon, and Cheryl drove us up to the Green Pond trailhead. When finished we drove back up in my car so Cheryl could get her car. It was a beautiful day and we did have a good time. This hike was 4.8 miles, dropping 1,438 feet.
