Bicycle Ride on Riverdale Pathway
Summer 2008-09 - 36 photos

(Last updated October 2010)
The Riverdale path runs along the west side of the Weber River from a parking lot and trail head along Parker Drive, just a short distance south from 31st Street. It runs 3.2 miles south going under Riverdale Road and appears to end at 4600 South. If you cross over the bridge going into the Riverdale Civic Center, you can get on the path again on the east side of the river. After about a half mile, you can see where new pavement has been added for one more mile. Then the pavement ends and the trail becomes dirt. I don't know how far it continues from there, but some day it will be paved all the way to the mouth of Weber Canyon.

The trail now goes north from Parker Drive, going under the road through a tunnel, continuing for about a half mile. It did end where the 31st street exit is leaving the Freeway. We used to climb a steep hill at the end with railroad tracks along the top. After climbing over the hill and tracks, the trail was paved on the other side, running about a half mile to where the Frontrunner tracks cross over high above. Also 4 Union Pacific tracks at this point. The trail did end here, and began again on the north side into Ogden. Now underpasses have been built to get past these tracks as well as the single track back by the 31st street exit. This was finished in April of 2010. Now you can ride along the river all the way through from the mouth of Ogden Canyon to the south end of Riverdale and in time to the mouth of Weber canyon.
