HIKING BEN LOMOND August 2004 - 36 photos
On August 28th of 2004, I took my grand daughter and a neighbor, and we hiked to the top of Ben Lomond peak in northern Utah. We drove to Willard Basin on the road from Mantua Utah. A dirt road, which I recomend using a four wheel drive vehicle to nagivate. On the way up over the ridge, we saw the Balloon Fest being held in Eden. This is something they do evey year at this time. I was lucky to get some early morning shots of the hot air balloons.

Willard Basin is around 8,800 feet and Ben Lomond 9,712, so the hike from there is a little eaiser than some of the other trails. The trail sign says 3 1/2 miles one way and about 1,000 foot climb. We started out just below Willard Peak and passed Willard Basin pond, then moved around the side of Willard Peak and followed the ridge line over to Ben Lomond. It took us 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach the peak, with lots of photo stops. After eating lunch at the peak we came back in 1 hour and 25 minutes.
