SNOWSHOEING in the foothills of North Ogden February 2010 - 18 photos
On the 2nd day of February, 2010, I was getting ready for my morning walk, and decided to take my snowshoes and go up to the northeastern part of North Ogden and walk around in the foothills. It wasn't a very clear day, so the photos aren't the best, but you can get an idea of what it was like. It's interesting that I have such a great place to snowshoe right here at home. There was plenty of snow, and much of it was frozen firm enough that I could walk right on top of it.
The view would have been fantastic if it weren't for the air pollution, or smog. In order to reach the base of the Ben Lomond mountains, I had to hike through some very dense woods of what most around here call Scrub Oak, but is really Utah White Oak, or Gambel Oak. I wanted to climb up on one of the lower ridges for a photo, but the woods were so thick and dense, that I finally gave up and came back down. It was still a nice walk, lasting about two hours.
